Molo x Kunsthal Aarhus
Molo is proud to announce its collaboration with Kunsthal Aarhus for the exhibition Go Extreme. Molo has developed a collection for the exhibition, inspired by the intersection of the art world and the world of extreme sports. The collection consists of GOTS* certified organic t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies for kids and adults.

The collection tells the story of different types of extreme sport athletes who perform and compete either under water, on land or up in the air. Molo's design team has developed brand new prints, in which kids and adults alike can express themselves.
The Exhibition
For the Go Extreme exhibition, Kunsthal Aarhus will be turned into a visionary, creative space where artists can explore the body and mind in extreme sports feats. The exhibition deals with the fascination around extreme sports and how art can give a new and exciting perspective on the body, mind and people’s quest for extraordinary accomplishments. Kunsthal Aarhus’ Go Extreme exhibit is open to visitors from August 2021 to January 2022.

5 QUESTIONS FOR KUNSTHAL AARHUS
Why are extreme sports interesting as art? We all have ideas and dreams about what we want to do with our lives. Extreme sport athletes live out these dreams through extraordinary achievements that require their intense physical and mental focus. They do something exceptional that is at the same time tangible: they climb mountains, run marathons and surf across oceans.

It’s visually, and in terms of content, great material for art. I will go out on a limb and say that artists do some of the same things, so in this way, it is appropriate to compare artists and extreme athletes.

Can extreme sport be beautiful? One core element in a lot of extreme sports is that they take place in exceptional locations. Often the sport takes place in unique, natural surroundings or special construction areas. These locations typically provoke a raw fascination and a particular beauty. Man’s quest for expanding boundaries or achieving the unachievable can also be exceptionally beautiful.

Which ekstreme sport do you think is the wildest? I think BASE jumping, where you throw yourself off a mountain, cliffs and tall buildings in a wing suit with a parachute is truly one of the wildest things. We’ve invited Ellen Brennan to Go Extreme. She is one of the wildest athletes in the world of BASE jumping. She is known as ’The Fastest Flying Woman in the World’.

What will a child find most exciting about the exhibition? What’s unique about Go Extreme is that we invite the public into different rooms, dedicated to extreme sports, body and mind. One of our rooms, for example, is blue with an ocean atmosphere, and it focuses on rowing across the Pacific Ocean. There’s a flesh-coloured room with a focus on the body; It’s a mind-blowing fitness centre with robots that are working out and walls that emit the smell of sweat.

That kind of total immersion experience that stimulates several senses appeals directly, I believe, to children and young adults.

What is the appeal for an art centre to collaborate with Molo? The playful creativity and immediacy that are found in Molo’s designs are also mirrored in the world of extreme sports.
