The comprehensive standard mandates third-party certification throughout the supply chain, ensuring that products with recycled content meet stringent environmental, chemical, and social responsibility criteria.

The GRS certification ensures:

Materials verified to meet the ISO* definition of 'recycled'. Both pre-consumer* and post-consumer* materials are accepted.

 

+ Potentially harmful chemicals aren’t allowed to be used in products.

 

All relevant legal requirements for air emissions, with corresponding record-keeping, are required to be met.

 

The certified entity is required to set and meet targets for meaningful improvements in air emissions and review this progress annually.

 

The identity of the recycled content is maintained from collected raw material to the final product.

The GRS mandates certification at each production stage, from recycling to the final product. Material collection and concentration sites undergo self-declaration, document collection, and on-site visits.
